Why Choose the Home Thyroid Test?
The TSH Test measures the level of Thyroid Stimulating Hormone in your blood. This self-collected test is performed in the comfort of your home, with results analyzed by a CLIA-certified laboratory. The entire process, from sample collection to receiving your results, takes approximately three weeks, providing a convenient and private way to monitor your thyroid health.
Understanding Your Thyroid and TSH
Thyroid hormones control metabolism and organ function, affecting weight, energy levels, skin condition, memory, heart rate, cholesterol levels, menstrual regularity, and more. If your thyroid gland is not functioning properly, it can lead to various health issues. The good news is that thyroid disorders can be effectively managed if detected early.
TSH is produced by the pituitary gland and stimulates the thyroid gland to release hormones into the bloodstream. Abnormal TSH levels can indicate thyroid dysfunction:
- Hyperthyroidism (Overactive Thyroid): Occurs when the thyroid produces more hormone than needed. Common symptoms include weight loss, fatigue, heat intolerance, nervousness, insomnia, tremor, muscle weakness, heart palpitations, frequent bowel movements, and light menstrual periods.
- Hypothyroidism (Underactive Thyroid): Occurs when the thyroid produces less hormone than needed. Common symptoms include weight gain, depression, fatigue, cold intolerance, dry skin, hair dryness or hair loss, forgetfulness, muscle cramps, edema, constipation, and heavy menstrual periods.
How It Works
The process is simple and user-friendly. The provided Blood Collection Kit includes a special finger lancet to collect four drops of blood. You place the sample on the collection card, let it dry, and then mail it in the prepaid envelope to a CLIA-certified lab. Your sample will be delivered to the lab in 5-7 days, and processing takes an additional 3-5 days. You'll receive an email when your results are available online at DBS Lab Portal, with the total turnaround time being approximately three weeks.
*Please do not purchase if your state does not permit this type of home collected laboratory testing.

Home Thyroid Tests: Assess Your Thyroid Health from Home
Discover if Your Thyroid is Overactive or Underactive
The thyroid is a small butterfly-shaped gland located at the base of your throat, responsible for regulating metabolism and various bodily functions, including weight, energy levels, memory, and heart rate. The thyroid's activity is controlled by the Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH), produced by the pituitary gland. A home thyroid test allows you to conveniently collect a sample at home and send it to a laboratory for accurate analysis of your TSH levels.
Why Opt for a Home Thyroid Test?
Home thyroid tests offer a simple and effective way to monitor your thyroid health without the need for a doctor's visit. Here are some compelling reasons to choose a home thyroid test:
- Identify Hyperthyroidism and Hypothyroidism Early
Hyperthyroidism can cause sudden weight loss, fatigue, agitation, insomnia, tremors, palpitations, and muscle atrophy. These symptoms are often overlooked or misattributed to other causes. Similarly, hypothyroidism can lead to weight gain, depression, constipation, hair loss, memory loss, and dry skin. Regular thyroid testing helps identify these conditions early, enabling timely medical intervention. - Prevalence of Thyroid Disorders
Recent statistics indicate that approximately 20 million Americans have some form of thyroid disease, with up to 60% unaware of their condition (American Thyroid Association, 2021). A home thyroid test allows you to check your thyroid levels conveniently, avoiding the inconvenience and cost of visiting a doctor or hospital. Knowing your TSH levels can help you take proactive steps in managing your health. - Accurate Diagnosis and Treatment
Many individuals receive treatment for symptoms without identifying the underlying cause due to undiagnosed thyroid conditions. A home thyroid test provides a reliable way to understand the root cause of your symptoms, allowing for more accurate diagnosis and treatment.
Benefits of Home Thyroid Testing
- Convenience: Collect your sample at home without needing to visit a lab.
- Privacy: Your results are confidential and securely accessible online.
- Accuracy: Laboratory-grade analysis ensures reliable results.
- Timely Intervention: Early detection of thyroid issues can lead to timely treatment and better health outcomes.
Understanding Your Results
A TSH test measures the amount of Thyroid Stimulating Hormone in your blood. Higher-than-normal TSH levels indicate hypothyroidism (underactive thyroid), while lower levels indicate hyperthyroidism (overactive thyroid). Knowing your TSH levels helps you and your healthcare provider make informed decisions about your treatment plan.
- Hypothyroidism (Underactive Thyroid): Symptoms include weight gain, fatigue, depression, and dry skin. If your results indicate hypothyroidism, your healthcare provider may recommend medication, lifestyle changes, or further testing to identify underlying causes.
- Hyperthyroidism (Overactive Thyroid): Symptoms include weight loss, nervousness, tremors, and rapid heartbeat. If your results indicate hyperthyroidism, your doctor may suggest treatments such as medication, radioactive iodine therapy, or surgery, depending on the severity of your condition.
It's important to consult with your healthcare provider about your test results. They can provide a comprehensive analysis and recommend the best course of action based on your overall health and medical history. If you have any symptoms or concerns, discussing them with your doctor ensures that you receive personalized care and appropriate treatment.
